Sandy Hook, NJ

Take learning outdoors this autumn!  Join educators from New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium (NJSGC) and New Jersey Marine Education Association (NJMEA) for an introductory experiential workshop on coastal environments.  Learn about the productivity in estuaries and the ocean processes that shape NJ’s shoreline in this 3-hour outdoor program at Gateway National Recreation Area’s Sandy Hook Unit.  Topics will include species diversity in nearshore communities, plankton collection and identification, water quality testing, beach orientation, sediment transport, and coastal plant identification.

Participants should dress for the weather and must be able to hike long distances on sand.  Workshop takes place on Saturday, November 2, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.; storm date Saturday, November 16.

Registration is $10 for NJMEA members, $15 for non-members.  Members can introduce a guest to this NJMEA activity with an added $5.00 fee. Add the guest when registering.

Registration fees for this program go to support NJMEA’s scholarships and grant funds.
